Maruti also provides an “e-for-me” mobile app to manage home charging and locate stations, and is deploying around 2,000 fast-charging points across India for easy long-distance travel.
Pricing and Competition
Maruti hasn’t revealed exact prices yet, but the e-Vitara is expected around the ₹17–22 lakh (ex-showroom) range. This would undercut or match similarly sized electric SUVs. Key rivals include the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG Motor’s Windsor EV, Tata Motors’ upcoming Curvv EV and Mahindra’s BE.6.. With its long range, high tech content and expected value pricing, Maruti is positioning the e-Vitara to compete with the best EV SUVs in India.
EV Market Trends & Government Support
India’s EV market is accelerating. Total EV registrations (excluding hybrids) crossed 2.02 million in 2025,and passenger EV sales jumped ~57% year-over-year. Tata Motors now leads the EV segment (~35% market share), with MG (~30%) and Mahindra (~24%) rapidly gaining ground.Buyers are favoring long-range SUVs: in the ₹25–30 lakh bracket EV‑SUV sales grew over 2,500% YoY in early 2025 Government incentives (up to ₹10,000 per kWh of battery, 5% GST on EVs, road-tax waivers, etc. under FAME-II) are further boosting demand. In this electric SUV India 2025 boom, the e-Vitara’s combination of range, safety tech and Maruti’s dealer network could quickly make it one of India’s most popular EV SUVs.
