Remember the good old Renault Duster that ruled Indian roads? Well, buckle up because it’s coming back, and the teaser just dropped some major nostalgia bombs!
Renault India just made it official – the iconic Duster SUV is returning to our streets, and it’s making a grand entrance on Republic Day, January 26, 2026. For those who remember, this rugged beast first landed in India back in 2012 and quickly became a favorite before disappearing from showrooms. Now, it’s ready for round two, and the buzz is real!
A Teaser That Tugs At Your Heartstrings
The teaser video that Renault dropped on social media is pure genius. It starts with a cute scene of a kid playing with toy cars. He’s got a black sedan in his hand but quickly ditches it when he spots a miniature first-gen Duster. Talk about priorities!

The video then takes us on a trip down memory lane, showing the old Duster crushing rough terrain like a boss. There are even shots of Dusters with “GOD” emblazoned on them – which stands for “Gangs of Duster,” a community that Renault India created for its die-hard fans. Pretty cool, right?
The clip wraps up with the star of the show – the new-gen Duster draped in red cloth, teasing us with glimpses of its sleek LED daytime running lights and stylish rear LED setup.
Playing The Nostalgia Card – Just Like Tata
Renault seems to be taking a page straight out of Tata Motors’ playbook here. Remember how Tata brought back the Sierra and created a massive buzz? Same energy! The teaser screams “Icon is back,” and honestly, we’re here for it.
The big question is – will they reveal just the design or drop the full pricing details too on January 26? Only time will tell!
What Can We Expect?
The new Duster has already been spotted testing on Indian roads multiple times, and it’s been selling internationally for a while now. The design is getting a complete makeover with V-shaped tail lights, chunky wheel arches, roof rails, and a shark fin antenna that screams modern SUV.
Up front, you’ll find Y-shaped LED headlights, a bold bull bar-like grille, and a muscular hood. The side profile gets sharp wheel arches, turn-signal-equipped mirrors, blacked-out B-pillars, and regular door handles.
Expected Powerterrain
Globally, the Duster comes loaded with options. There’s a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol with a 48V mild hybrid system pumping out 128 hp, a 1.6-litre strong hybrid petrol setup with dual electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery delivering 138 hp, and even a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG variant producing 99 hp. The international version gets a 6-speed transmission with all-wheel drive capabilities.
Whether all these options make it to India remains to be seen, but if Renault plays its cards right, the Duster could reclaim its throne in the Indian SUV market. January 26 can’t come soon enough!
